Things I’m Into

This segment consists of recent happenings and things I’m currently into with brief and/or lengthy descriptions depending on how I’m feeling. Enjoy!

Levain Bakery – NYC – opened for the summer season in Wainscott, NY. This Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie makes basically every single list of Top 10 cookies in the USA. Go try it, you won’t be sorry you did!

Hello, babies. Some sweet graffiti in the backyard of The Levee in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Scenes from the window by the stairwell overlooking a backyard Cinco de Mayo themed birthday party! Love this aesthetic.

Calm before the storm in B&W.  Gurney’s – Montauk, NY. Get to the beach now, k bye!

Washington Square Park on a warm spring evening. Never gets old, ever.

BDC Reviews – Glossier

Evidently, I am head over heels for everything that Glossier puts out into the universe. So no shocker when they surprise-launched via Snapchat 3 new Balm Dotcom flavors that I’m immediately on board with their new delicious lip balms!

The packaging is gorgeous as per usual with Glossier – so beautiful that they even sell their pink Glossier ziploc style bags on their website.

You can never. have. enough. 🙂
Glossier dropped 3 flavors – rose, mint & cherry – and this is what I think about them…

rose balm dotcom

The packaging is pretty and unexpected – I like that the rose is in a similar shade to the typical Glossier pink – but a little more…rose-y! The darker green cap reminds me of a rose stem and whatever I just love it.

The scent of the rose balm dotcom is so delicious – it’s the least fragrant out of all of the scented balms. It doesn’t smell like a fragrant rose or a perfume rose or like your grandmother – it’s sort of sweet. The rose scented balm dotcom immediately brought me back to indulging in rose flavored macarons from Laduree in Paris. aka – heaven. <3

The balm is light pink in color and although it smells delicious, it has no color payoff and does not taste like anything – although smell and taste are so close you almost feel like you’re tasting it.

mint balm dotcom

I love anything and everything in mint – the color, the taste, the freshness of breath like you just brushed your teeth… I even love mint chocolate.. and mint ice cream.. omg list goes on forever. Needless to say, this balm is a winner for me.

Cute packaging with a light blue cap – hard to see in this picture but you can see it better in above photos. The mint scent AND flavor is one of my favorites – Glossier added menthol to this balm and it just works so well. The mint is sort of a sweet mint – it’s more wintermint/spearmint than peppermint… I guess – it would be a green bag of mints as opposed to a blue bag of mints. Does that make sense? No? Okay, sorry. #IAintSorry (BEY!)

No color payoff and it comes out of the tube clear. Not recommended for eating even though you’re going to want to…

cherry balm dotcom

Talk about a #TBT! Wow – this literally brings me back to the 6th grade when collecting flavored Smackers lip balms was a thing… it was a thing for me. I would always get them as “stocking stuffers” during Christmas and Smacker’s always came out with the raddest flavors and did tons of collaborations with flavors – I remember having a Coca-Cola, Cherry Coke, and a really sick Watermelon flavor that I was obsessed with. And I’m pretty sure they all had adorably cute names…

The cherry balm dotcom is an elevated and much more chic adult version of your Smacker’s lip balm. Speaking of Smacker’s…. lip balm obviously isn’t just for pre-pubescent teens – it’s for everyone!!!! No matter your age, this lip balm slightly tints your lips to a really beautiful shade of red. No, it’s not a dark red, and no you really can’t mess it up like other red products you put on your lips. You will literally be moisturizing the shit out of your lips, while having a beautiful red color payoff from the tint. People will definitely ask you what you’re wearing on your lips and you can gloat and say Glossier BDC!

An Evening at Merriweather

On the rather dreary spring evening of May 7, 2016 guests gathered under a 30,000 square foot tent on the picturesque landmark estate of Marjorie Merriweather Post and E.F. Hutton. The campus at Long Island University brings you back to the scene of the 1920’s and straight into the glamorous party scene of The Great Gatsby.

The event was presented by Long Island University, Americana Manhasset and Poll Restaurants where the tapas style food was exquisitely delicious; cocktails from Stoli and brews from Oyster Bay Brewery were perfect. Entertainment was 1920s to the extreme – magicians, gaming tables, silent movies set up in what felt like a real-life movie theater, and a woman in a tub with champagne… (my favorite part).  We celebrated food, music, film, art and fashion.

This was the first event of its kind with hopes to continue it on as an annual tradition to benefit local art and cultural exhibits and organizations for years to come.

The evening supports local community partners: Gold Coast International Film Festival, Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, Nassau County Museum of Art, Old Westbury Gardens, and Sands Point Preserve Conservancy.

Enjoy the eye candy that is Chris Norton NYC Band. They totally killed it and were probably one of the most fun live bands I’ve seen in quite some time. Check out their website in the link they have a bunch of greatness on SoundCloud.

Benibla Denim Hat

I’ve been pretty much obsessed with this hat since I’ve purchased it. It’s from a French brand, they seem pretty legit – kinda different vibe, but I’m okay with that. Like the style a lot – def into it. Love the light-wash stone denim.

The Five-Minute Journal

I’m really into sharing things that are great. It actually drives me crazy when people know about amazing / great things and they keep them a secret so that others can’t know about them aka keep their exclusivity. That’s called being selfish although sometimes it’s pretty damn smart. Whatever, I found something sick that I want to share with you guys.

Another blogger I follow posted about her experience with The Five-Minute Journal here, and I obvi knew I needed to purchase this notebook – ASAP.

All photos from

The premise of The Five-Minute Journal is simple – the book explains how to make it work for you most efficiently – little tips like keeping the journal right next to your bed so that you write in it every single day – once in the morning and once in the evening. And even when you’re not in the mood or you’re too tired and maybe even too drunk. And it’s all founded in the pursuit of… you guessed it! HAPPINESS!

The journal is guaranteed to help you reach the status of whatever it is that you’re craving – and we are all craving happiness, right? Right, people? Right. The photo below shows the basic setup of this journal. It’s super simple and takes only 5 minutes in the AM and 5 minutes in the PM.

It’s a fantastic tracker – in the sense that it helps you keep track of and have a reference point for everything in your life – whether it’s what happened, somewhere you went, something you did, how your mood was.

Plus it reminds me of doing worksheets in elementary school – and I love a good worksheet. Filling in the blanks & writing in your own answers keeps your responses creative and thoughtful but not super long. Helps you get to the point quickly.

I’m really into the quotes that are at the top of each page – and quotes in general. That’s the “basic betch” in me – whatev. Just a little bit of insight into my daily life, enjoy!
