My go-to beauty brand, Glossier just launched Wowder! Not a powder.
It’s not your ordinary setting powder. Leaves no white-cast and is offered in 3 sheer shades. I’m a Glossier rep, and was gifted the Light/Medium shade. I’m a huge fan of a setting powder even though I haven’t used one in over a year.
I fell in love with a setting powder called Moonshot by a Korean beauty brand that discontinued making it. Originally published in Emily Weiss’ Top Shelf, I became hooked after trying it. I ordered 2 and used them like they were going out of style. Once I ran out, I freaked out after not being able to find more. 🙁 Nothing available on the black market (eBay).
In early May I talked to Emily Weiss about my troubles and not being able to find any replacements. Her reply was “I got you.”
Lo and behold, “she got me!” This is that powder. But nicer because it’s available in more shades! I’m obsessed. This does everything I want it to do. I use it on day where I don’t want that glossy look. When I’m over looking shiny.
It looks amazing in photos! So you don’t look shiny or have a flash on your face. But also doesn’t make you look cakey either! Complete game changer.
Love taking photos of Glossier products because they’re beautiful! 😍

By now you’ve probably noticed my obsession with all things Glossier. And if you haven’t, I will continue to tell you how rad they are! <3
With much fanfare and hype on social media, Glossier launched Phase 2 of their product base on Monday, March 14th. Their motto is “Skin first. Makeup second. Smile always.” The Phase 1 set was completely all about skincare – so following suit, the Phase 2 set is all about makeup!
The Phase 2 set comes complete with a BoyBrow eyebrow pomade (which had a soft launch last fall) – I’m already overly obsessed with this. It also comes with their “Stretch Concealer” (available in 5 shades to match your skin tone) and “Generation G” lipstick (available in 4 shades). You customize your package and select your brow color, concealer color and lip color – how beautiful is that? Every time you order you can mix up what you want/need – although likely your concealer and brow shade will stay the same.
The Glossier Launch Party was last night at the Penthouse of the Glossier building on Lafayette Street in Soho. All Glossier products were available to touch and try and feel. Every industry gal was exuberant and ready to mingle amongst the makeup with rosé champagne and goodies from Dimes.
My first Phase 2 order will consist of Boy Brow in Brown / Stretch Concealer in Medium / Generation G in Like. But I also ordered Generation G in Cake. And will also be ordering it in Crush and Jam this week. JK – already ordered everything. Glossier does a great job of showing how their products look on various skin tones – such great information available to shoppers. The lip colors go on like lip balms and they’re sheer and also sort of matte – they dry nicely and it feels like nothing is actually on your lips.
Kylie surprise-launched the lip liner and lip gloss combo on Cyber Monday. Even with only alluding to the launch of the website a few days before, the products sold out within seconds. The 3 shades she launched are all within a nude palette and go by: Candy K, Dolce K, and True Brown K. The photos on their IG make all the shades look beautiful on many different skin tones and people.
When the product restocked a few weeks later on Monday, December 14th, I knew I had to give it my best shot. I failed at ordering on Cyber Monday -sold out too quickly! With my credit card ready to be entered and 3 browsers open on my side-by-side computer screens at work, I waited for for the clock to strike 12:00PM (EST).
Amped up and excited, I somehow, thank god(again, psycho) got this product in my cart and was able to checkout. Best. Day. Ever!!! I purchased the “Candy K” which is the lightest / pinkest of all the nude shades currently offered. That I NEEDED.
Then I waited… and waited… for what felt like an eternity. I finally received the USPS package about 1.5 weeks later. It actually took me awhile to decide if I was going to try it or sell it since the kits were selling on eBay and other sites for upwards of $100. I obvi kept it, because I wastoo obsessed to NOT.
Here are my thoughts on the Candy K as of today:
Packaging is good, cute (yet controversial) graphics and overall aesthetically pleasing.
Shipping is a #shitshow.
The lip liner: the pencil is medium length and looks like it’s a good quality. It has a pointed tip right out of the package and is actually a perfect texture/consistency. Soft on application but stays firm so that you can easily draw your line or shade in. The lines apply very easily and the color is great and allows for being able to easily fix your mess-ups.
The lip gloss: surprised me. It is matte – I LOVE this. It’s my first time experiencing any type of matte lip gloss on myself. Keep that in mind that I have literally nothing to really hold it up to or compare it to. The scent is absolutely atrocious. It’s not a bad smell specifically, but definitely smells of something some females would refer to as “baby prostitutes.” It’s like a really strong vanilla or candy store smelling scent.
The makeup wand applies the product well with a few swipes across the lips. It goes on wet and begins to instantly “dry” or “matte-ify” upon adhering to the lips. It leaves a dry, almost powdery looking finish. It feels dry, but when you rub your lips together, it’s sort of more “rough” or it will stick a bit? Stick… isn’t the right word. It’s obviously not glossy or sticky or wet, it’s not like sandpaper and does not crumble off your lips by any means either. It’s kind of a sensation to get used to, but I imagine it is how all matte lip glosses feel on the lips. I’m into it.
Wearing this is an instant confidence booster – I received several compliments on the Candy K lip kit within the first week of wearing. (I wore it every day for a little while). It’s priced at $29 plus tax and shipping (still not in stock though!). I really like it and I’m excited to see all the new colors that are coming out this year. Kylie teased a palette on her Snapchat using the black & white filter (obvi to not give it away) and later featured a bright pretty pink that will be coming out for Valentine’s Day apparently. Which means it MUST be launching soon… stay tuned!
So I’m a skincare junkie. I’m also a shopping addict. I have OCD — (likely). When I see something I want and it’s easily attainable – it automatically becomes a MUST HAVE.
Since Into the Gloss blog founder Emily Weiss launched Glossier – I knew it had to be amazing and I knew I needed it immediately. Glossier’s website says it best:
“How many products do you own, and how many do you actually use? We are creating a highly edited collection of modern staples reflecting how you get ready every day, starting with the most important thing—a perfectly primed canvas (your skin!)—and working our way up.”
“Our formulas are designed to live with you, not on you, and enhance what you already have. They are meant to be touched, smooshed, traveled with, cherished, and shared until their packages are crinkly and dirty and can literally give no more.”
I purchased the starter kit and the packaging it arrives in is super cute / it also comes with stickers which I LOVE. I think this is a great starter pack for people who use a lot of products and are fed up with it. Kind of lightens your load in a sense…
My Review’s Below…
Balm Dot Com: Skin salve. This is nice. It’s high high high in the running against Lucas Papaw Ointment which I use regularly. It can be used basically anywhere. GREAT for lips! Highly recommend if you have chapped lips and you are constantly in the lip balm / chapstick phenomena of constantly reapplying and you kind of think it doesn’t help you but makes you use it more. You can put it on dry cuticles. Dry elbows/knees/palms. Anywhere that needs a little extra lovin’!
Priming Moisturizer: Warning! Comes out of tube, very quickly. Positive: the tubing is very squeezable – does that make sense?! It’s like – do you know how it’s sometimes difficult to get the last of a product out of it’s tube? Yeah, well – this solves that problem. The packaging is super easy to get the cream out of. It’s a light-ish cream and its unscented which I love. It’s build-able – I’m not exactly sure what that means. It’s used as a nice makeup primer and I like it for that as well. It’s a great combination of your moisturizer and your primer. Put on after cleansing and before makeup. Recommend.
Perfecting Skin Tint: Are you a makeup girl or a non-makeup girl? If your answer is non-makeup girl, this is FOR YOU!!! It is extremely thin coverage. I don’t even want to say coverage because it does not cover you. It makes you feel as if you’re wearing nothing! Which is MAJOR. It’s definitely not for blemish coverage. HOWEVER, if you mix some of this in to your typical foundation, it will thin it out and give you a nice, dewy, clean finish. I got the medium color – which I think most people will fall in – unless you’re extremely pale or have much darker pigmentation. Highly suggest mixing it in with your daily foundation or BB/CC cream if you use one. Recommend if you have nice skin and if you just want to even out skin tone and wear something. Do not recommend for trying to cover up much of anything. Great mixer though for sure. 😉
Soothing Face Mist: A major mist fan, I always carry a mist with me, I always keep a mist in/on my desk at work, always on my vanity at home, and one in my carry-all travel bag. Basically, I live the nomadic life – at my apartment in Brooklyn, on Long Island at my best friends’ homes, and I travel a lot on the weekends. I’ve been enjoying the rosewater mist they make. Look for a future blog about rosewater mists because they’ve been a natural obsession of mine. Also Kim Kardashian West is obsessed with rosewater too, so OBV.

Got your next Weekday Manicure ideas for this Fall… Essie just released their Fall 2014 shades and THEY ALL RULE!
Of course I’m obsessed with every damn color but my absolute favorite is “Dress to Kilt” a deep sexy red, perfect for your autumn afternoons playing in the leaves and drinking Pumpkin Spice Latte’s!*
*(Don’t really drink these, please! – See Nutrition Facts below). I allow myself 1 per season (because, OBVIOUSLY – they’re so good!) – and if I really need a “pumpkin spice fix” – I’ll get a dirty chai with 1 pump of Pumpkin Spice (cuts the fat almost in half & the calories down by at least 100!) & still tastes pretty legit. Weird ramble…
Anyway, my next favorite from this collection is “Take It Outside” which is a beautiful taupe and I think it’s a nice mix between essie’s classic colors: Sand Tropez and Chinchilly. AKA I’m going to wear this all autumn long! Although I’ve been wearing dark nails for the past few weeks embracing the start of Fall, I do LOVE wearing a lighter shade with darker hues of clothing and accessories during the fall and winter. Go get your nails done, people! Or DIY if you’re talented enough. <3
And this new amazing lip color from NARS. Which I’m OBSESSED with.
The key of this is actually the liner. Velvet Matte Lip Pencils by NARS are the living best. I even use it alone often, and highly recommend. Go dark ladies, go dark. Do it during the daytime too, it’s OKAY!!!!
Summer is here & bare feet are a guarantee for every weekend.
Bare feet, sand from the beach, extra sun & ocean saltwater all contribute to that dry skin you get all overrrrr.
Want a really great spa treatment for your dry legs/feet/elbows/arms? Don’t want to go to the spa? Don’t even want to leave your air conditioned place to get a moisturizer that hardly even helps? Being in your 20’s is all about faking it ’til you’re making it. So – here’s my “fake it” to help you look like ya “made it.”
Look no further. Byrdy DIY comin’ atcha!
-Organic Pure Cane Sugar (or whatever sugar you keep in your kitchen will do)
-Olive Oil (whatever type of oil you like (coconut) but olive oil is commonly kept)
Pour oil on to the sugar. It will easily begin to fold together.
Mix together in a bowl with your hands (or a spoon) and create your oily textured scrub. Simple as that.
It will turn into a rich sugar scrub that’s good enough to eat… but really.
Apply/slather all over areas that you’d like to exfoliate & moisturize (legs, feet, knees, arms elbows…)*
*A little bit goes a LONG way.
If you have a facial exfoliation/moisturizer in mind feel free to add the following: essential oils, fresh squeezed lemons, blueberries or any berries for antioxidants, oatmeal… some more simple as pie recipes. Like you don’t need measurements either – just mix whatever you have and hope for the best.
Tomatoes (rich in lycopene) & sugar are great for protecting against UV rays from the sun.
Olive oil, coffee grinds & organic honey is an easy one I’ve done as well. This smells amazing & works well, especially in the morning! It can get rather messy – use it in the shower. (if you’re not into DIY but love a coffee scrub, frank body has got it goin’ on!).
Oats, honey & olive oil is a great mixture for super dry skin as well. Very moisturizing.
So basically, get in your kitchen, find some random ingredients that you may need and make your scrub. Cheap (basically free) and easy! You can use it 2-3x per week.
“OMG I really really want a tattoo!” – dumb girls, everywhere…
And here I am again, solving your white girl problems. 😉
So here’s a cute way you can get a new tattoo without actually getting one. Fucking genius. obv.
I hear betches say things like this all the time…
“I want another tattooooooo!” “Let’s get matching tattoos!” “I want a lotus flower tattoo.” “I want a tattoo but I don’t know what I’d get.” OK, boring…
Here’s your answer – fake fucking tattoos, ummm duh.
Cuticle tattoos. How interesting.
I saw these bad boys from Rad Nails on Twitter (probs?) and had to try them out. They make 3 types of cuticle tattoos so I naturally purchased all 3 styles. Brought them to my manicurist Cindy to put them on me because I can’t do this shit on my own.
UMMM…. these are much more difficult than we both thought! After several attempts, Cindy just got frustrated, telling me that these were “weird” and not like the ones from China that she uses. I, of course had NO freakin’ time to be getting this detailed of a manicure to begin with…
So – we agreed she forcefully told me that she was just going to paint the exact replicas on my nails and call it a day. The design is cute – though not my style at all. Maybe I’ll try Rad Nails again one day when I have a LOT of time and patience.
