Cabana Southampton

Strolling through Southampton last Monday, I came across an interesting and beautifully curated pop-up shop, Cabana Southampton. The “Come Sale Away” sign drew me in….

A Peek Inside Cabana Southampton

Store owner Julie Heller explained that the store is inspired by vintage pieces. There are vintage books, gorgeous artwork, vintage Chanel handbags & jewelry, candles and stationary that are creatively detailed.

Based in NYC as ERA|LUXE, a cult-fave luxury vintage store, Heller decided to bring the shop to where she summer’s in Southampton, NY. The vintage does so well that she wanted to bring in new products from different designer brands that weren’t well represented on the east end of Long Island/Hampton’s.

Everything inside makes everyone that enters want to purchase something – I guarantee there is at least one piece in this store that will “speak to you.” There are TONS of awesome gifts in this shop – things that you’d “never buy for yourself” but you actually will because that’s how fab it is.

The Cabana Southampton Instagram is loaded with beautifully curated photos of products sold in the shop and gorgeous Hampton’s beachfront views – what’s not to love / “like”? The ever popular HASHTAG HAMPTONS gear is placed around the store between books, scented candles & sprays, accessories and perfectly placed artwork/paintings.

They’re staying open until mid-September so I suggest checking it out if you’re on the east end for any of the remaining weeks of summer! There’s an online shop for Cabana Southampton as well so if your weekends are already full of day trips & cocktails for the remainder of the summer, you can still check out all the goods.

Things I’m Into Right Now.

Shit I’m Into.

Moonflower (if eaten – not that you would) is a hallucinogenic. When burning, it’s supposed to give off the scent of the moonflower to a degree, leaving the people in its presence with a sense of euphoria, comfort and ease. Gets the creative mind moving. I’m newly obsessed with this candle from red flower, burning it daily at work and at home. It’s a deep, dark scent that can relax you into a psychedelic slumber. Cannot get enough, and I love that little fortune cookie! ❤

Think this is really cute! FYI on how to use your bobby pins – however, they work fine both ways IMO.

Hermès – Elixir des Merveilles

Having a signature scent is such a specific desire and once you have it, you’re known as that forever. I’ve been wanting to have one for as long as I can remember. I’m super jealous of friends who have that.

Further explanation: You know when you smell a smell and you immediately think of one specific person because it’s their smell? UGH – yes! LOVE THAT. Sometimes – don’t love that – like especially if I don’t love that person. Woof.

I don’t have a particular scent – I have so many scents & love to mix and match them according to my mood swings. 🙂

Admittedly, I smelled a scent last weekend at a cocktail party and freaked out because I knew the smell but I couldn’t put my finger on what it was. I was having a sensory overload. I knew what it was, I couldn’t put a name to a scent. After a lot of deliberation, I figured out what it was and headed to the Hermès boutique at Americana Manhasset.  I actually didn’t – I wrote it down in my Notes app on iPhone and went 3 days later.

The whole theme of the “Eau des Merveilles” line is of a fairytale. This fragrance “tells the tale of an imaginary journey at Hermès, the feet on the ground, the head among the stars. A modern fairy tale, bursting with charm and mystery.”

Um, EXACTLY…..

Elixir des Meveilles is sweet and smells like sex. It has a deeper emotion of scents than that of the Eau des Merveilles and works well layered on top of it. I loved the Elixir so much so that I bought it without the Eau. They also make an L’Ambre des Merveilles and an Eau Claire des Merveilles. They’re all in the same family and as with many Hermès fragrances, can be layered together for different mixtures.

The Elixir has has notes of chocolate-covered candied orange peel, caramel, vanilla biscuit (vanilla sugar, tonka bean), creamy milk, sandalwood, incense, resins, ambergris, Peru balsam and balsam of Siam, oak, patchouli and cedar.

Seems pretty foody, huh?! I didn’t really want to smell like a baby prostitute or a confectioner’s kitchen so I was weary at first. I was wrong. So wrong. I’m obsessed with the Elixir. It isn’t over the top or foody – but it is definitely sweet. Not as orange as the Eau – much more candy-like.

Elixir des Merveilles is an Eau de Parfum, and it lasts long on your skin. If I was into having a signature scent, I’d want this to be mine because it makes me feel very strong & pretty.

Works well while wearing anything black. This scent brings CHIC to a whole new level and is completely timeless.

Diptyque – Baies or “Bae” ♥

Diptyque scented candles are among the best scented candles in this world – made from high quality vegetable/paraffin wax that burn cleanly & evenly. I went into the Diptyque shop in Soho (lower Manhattan – a few storefronts from Cafe Gitane) and explored a ton of fragrances. The shop assistant was extremely friendly and super helpful with my 21 questions about everything!

baies

Tip: (I learned this from the girl in the store) If you want to get a really good idea of the scent: tip the glass upside down and knock it against your hand so the wax comes out and then have a sniff! By doing this you can get a true impression of the fragrance rather than sniffing the top of the candle which has been exposed to the air and probably doesn’t smell as strong. Great idea and she did it to basically every scent in the store for me!

I went in knowing that I already loved the scent of Baies – which apparently smells like a bouquet of roses and blackcurrent leaves. Whatever that means, I just think it smells divine! And it’s pronounced “bae” – I mean, obviously I love that shit!

After almost going for Tubéreuse – definitely a more nighttime and sexy scent, I ended up with my Baies. Tubéreuse will be my next scent from Diptyque.

At $60.00 for a Standard Size candle – $30 for a votive size, it’s steep – but worth it! Such amazing scents & long lasting! To keep these pricey candles lasting even longer, make sure you always trim the wick nice & shore. Also – the first time you light this baby, put it in the freezer before the first light – the freeze somehow stops the candle from burning as quickly.

Diptyque makes about 50 different scents – they’re split into 5 categories: Fruity, Floral, Herbal, Spicy and Woody. They are all packaged in the clear glass tumblers with the trademark black and white labels – so chic.

Highly recommend -another one of my favorites. I’ll be burning my “bae” all night long. Except not, as I’m too nervous to keep him on all night long because house burning down. Duh.
