When people ask me about Glossier, my response is usually simple. I describe the person. The Glossier girl or guy (person) is beautiful, comfortable in their own skin, natural, clean, and dewy!
You know that feeling just after getting a facial? Just put on your skincare before makeup? Just got out of the shower? And your skin looks radiant and dewy? That’s it. Glossier has bottled that feeling. Glossier skin in a bottle.
Glossier has given us that feeling to take with us! Usually that post facial glow or post skincare moisture fades a few minutes after you leave the room. This dew will bring you into the future. It’s a silky oil serum hybrid that pumps out of the bottle with a glow and goes on clear.
A lot of us take specific care of our face (some, not all of us – but I’d like to think more of us reading this, since I write a lot about skincare and beauty products). Specific care meaning you probably own quite a bit of products that you rub, pat, spray, massage, dab into the skin on your face for a plethora of different reasons. I sure do.
As a Glossier rep, I receive products pre-launch and get to try them out and share my opinions and reviews on social media or here for you guys to read about.
Alongside a BADASS campaign with women of diverse body types, shapes, skin colors – which I’m sure many of you have seen on Instagram or in the NY Times Style Section – GLOSSIER IS A MOVEMENT. Making beauty less commercialized and more real-life. Campaign images are to die for. There’s been countless posts on Instagram with the Body Hero sticker that comes with the purchase covering topless women of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds. V fresh.
Upon first opening the Body Hero Daily Perfecting Cream – I was overwhelmed by the scent! Liked it a lot but again, overwhelmed. It took me a few days of use for my nose to be trained to love the Neroli – scented lotion. It took me a few days of Instagram trolling to figure out that the scent was actually Neroli too (it’s been a while since I’ve worn my Tom Ford perfume). And the scent fades slightly but it’s still there after a full day @ work.
Overall really love Body Hero Daily Perfecting Cream – it melts into your skin. And by melt, I mean it does NOT take forever to dry and you can get dressed immediately after using. Immediately. Like – how good is that? Biggest reason for not putting lotion on my legs everyday is because then I can’t put on pants / if its summer and I’m wearing a dress, will sweat off this lotion, etc. I love it.
Body Hero Daily Oil Wash is a major win for me. I have been using an oil body wash for years – typically use Dr. Bronner’s Lavender but am HAPPILY making the move to Glossier! Love the luxurious feel of the oils and how they get sudsy but don’t foam too much. My skin feels polished and really soft since using it in the shower and I’ve literally taken so many more showers lately because I’m really feeling the scent. Plus the pink pouch is XL!

Kim Kardashian West with Glossier on her Insta-story…
Never been a serum girl until I became a devout serum girl. Glossier has 3 serums and I’ve been using them since September. 6 month review. I’m still using them and I’m not going a day without it.
Super Pure rules. It completely helped me get through several redness and breakout prone months in the fall. My chin is always red from hormonal flare ups, and Super Pure has combated that in such a real way.
I’ve moved over to using Super Bounce daily recently and I love what it’s doing for my skin. Keeps the moisture and suppleness in my skin. I use it post cleanser and P50 and pre- moisturizer.
I’m a Rep for Glossier, so please feel free to ask me any questions about any of the products! I love sharing my skincare tips, Glossier related or not!
All natural. Hashtag no filter. Hashtag no makeup. Hashtag natural beauty. Makeup free Monday. Beauty from within. Fucking liars. In fact, I’ll go as far to say that nothing in a daily beauty look is really natural. All natural is the result of serious practice.Hard labor.
It takes one to know one. It takes work. If you’re not working now, I will LOVE to laugh at your gross lines and wrinkles 20 4 years from now. The best care is preventative care. Not reactive care.
Don’t wear too much makeup or try too hard. Wear makeup that makes it look like you’re not wearing makeup. Try to avoid the intense foundation, especially if you can see it. Use something so sheer or lighten it up by mixing with a moisturizer to make your own Bb cream. Avoid too many colors and avoid too major of bronzer. Mascara works wonders (Chanel Le Volume, trust).
Don’t blow dry your hair everyday and don’t color it so often. I’ve been victim to both of those things with overly drying results. Change takes time but you can change your hair [look and feeling] with a few simple regimen changes (like a hair mask).
Keep nails short and well manicured. This does not necessarily mean having polish on your manicured nails. I try to stick to nude tones, red tones or black tones – but in reality, my polish color choices have evolved over time and I still pick a bright crazy color on occasion. When you do have polish, keep it clean. I would rather see unpolished nails than ratchet half-polished or a 3 week old mani. Keep them clean as well, dirty nails are for 5 year old boys.
Take care of your hands, lotion up! And when you’re moisturizing your face, start from the bottom up! Moisturize the skin on your chest (décolletage) and neck. Move from the center of your face outward, in upward sweeping motions. Pull the skin upward, gravity pulls it down all day. Try to reverse effects of aging this way. Who knows if it actually works but — better than downward motion! AmIrite?
Under eye cream is a MUST. Start this now. Before you need it. So that when you really need it, you won’t really need it that bad.
The au natural look will get more and more chic with age. And it gets more and more easy with regard to time and confidence. You’ll feel more confident in your skin and going natural when you wear less makeup to begin with. Work hard.
Summer is here & bare feet are a guarantee for every weekend.
Bare feet, sand from the beach, extra sun & ocean saltwater all contribute to that dry skin you get all overrrrr.
Want a really great spa treatment for your dry legs/feet/elbows/arms? Don’t want to go to the spa? Don’t even want to leave your air conditioned place to get a moisturizer that hardly even helps? Being in your 20’s is all about faking it ’til you’re making it. So – here’s my “fake it” to help you look like ya “made it.”
Look no further. Byrdy DIY comin’ atcha!
-Organic Pure Cane Sugar (or whatever sugar you keep in your kitchen will do)
-Olive Oil (whatever type of oil you like (coconut) but olive oil is commonly kept)
Pour oil on to the sugar. It will easily begin to fold together.
Mix together in a bowl with your hands (or a spoon) and create your oily textured scrub. Simple as that.
It will turn into a rich sugar scrub that’s good enough to eat… but really.
Apply/slather all over areas that you’d like to exfoliate & moisturize (legs, feet, knees, arms elbows…)*
*A little bit goes a LONG way.
If you have a facial exfoliation/moisturizer in mind feel free to add the following: essential oils, fresh squeezed lemons, blueberries or any berries for antioxidants, oatmeal… some more simple as pie recipes. Like you don’t need measurements either – just mix whatever you have and hope for the best.
Tomatoes (rich in lycopene) & sugar are great for protecting against UV rays from the sun.
Olive oil, coffee grinds & organic honey is an easy one I’ve done as well. This smells amazing & works well, especially in the morning! It can get rather messy – use it in the shower. (if you’re not into DIY but love a coffee scrub, frank body has got it goin’ on!).
Oats, honey & olive oil is a great mixture for super dry skin as well. Very moisturizing.
So basically, get in your kitchen, find some random ingredients that you may need and make your scrub. Cheap (basically free) and easy! You can use it 2-3x per week.
“get naked, get dirty, get rough, get clean.” is the hot slogan of this sexy and clean skincare regime. frank is a coffee scrub that’s made in 2 formulas: “original” and “coconut & grapeseed.” I purchased the coconut & grapeseed formula because I’m less partial to orange (original).
Frank is natural & vegan and is known for scrubbing away dry skin, moisturizing, cleansing & clarifying. Frank is the man! He targets cellulite, stretch marks, psoriasis, varicose veins, eczema and acne. What more can you ask for in a man?!
Frank is made from ground Arabica coffee beans, cold pressed sweet almond oil, sugar and sea salt. They all have amazing healthful qualities and will 100% change the feel of your skin.
After using frank – I found that my skin was extremely soft for days on end! Definitely smelled like a latte after getting out of the shower! Whether you like the smell of coffee or not, you’re going to LOVE what frank can do for your skin. Plus it’s fun. 🙂
Skincare is important because faces are noticed first – LE DUH!
Midway through my twenties (AHHH, I know!…calm down.. breathe) I’ve noticed that my skin is changing a bit. I’ve been recommended to try face oils instead of my typical face creams as moisturizers.
Oil products contain essential fatty acids that skin needs to stay hydrated. Oil also acts as a barrier, protecting against extreme temps (sunshine – for all of us sunbathers), dry climates & over-cleansing.
If you couldn’t already tell, I have a ridiculous obsession with skincare and beauty products. RMS Beauty has a TO-DIE-FOR beauty oil that after receiving a sample of – I ABSOLUTELY NEEDED.OBVI.
Here’s a little FYI about your face & oil. Skin oil is MUCH DIFFERENT than plant oils! RMS Beauty Oil bridges the gap between the two. SORRY THIS IS BORING, but I’ll give you a quick 411. When your oil content isn’t balanced, your skin starts pumping out sebum (basically it’s stuff that clogs pores & causes breakouts). Eww. SOOOO – when you cleanse your face a million times because you have breakouts, you’re stripping your skin’s natural oils. Your skin reacts by producing more oil to compensate for what’s been lost. That sucks, huh?! But it makes sense.
A quality face oil like RMS Beauty Oil will replenish your skin with essential fatty acids & moisture! Win. When the oil balance is back in check, those overactive sebaceous glands (yeah that’s a freakin’ weird word and no, I didn’t make it up) can take a break & your skin will get healthier and definitely clearer.
The RMS beauty oil is a higher end oil – and as with mostall of my opinions – quality is worth paying a higher price for. At $74.00 per bottle (I used a 20% off coupon code for Earth Day!), this oil is providing you with everything that your skin needs. All organically & naturally. AND IT’S LIGHTWEIGHT. You’ll only need about 3 drops to rub into your face (day & night), so your 30 mL bottle will go a long way!
Quite the craze over “oil pulling” lately. Check various venues of social media and you’re guaranteed to see one of your ‘friends’ posting about it. So I’m doing some 1st hand research for all of you skeptics. WTF is it, you ask?
You swish or hold or gargle oil in your mouth for 20 minutes, no more no less to help improve your oral health & overall health. Interesting enough…
This article is super helpful. Give’s everything from how-to’s to tips & findings.
And basically, there’s little to NO evidence at all that supports anything that people “say” about oil pulling. What are they saying?!
Organic coconut oil will create a slick surface and hopefully prevent any bacteria from entering into the body. Coconut oil seems to be the most widely used form of oil pulling although other vegetable oils work (sesame, olive, sunflower). The coconut oil has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, & anti-inflammatory properties, plus does not taste bad at all. <3 Put anywhere from a teaspoon to a tablespoon, depending on what you can handle, in your mouth & swish for 20 minutes.
After swishing for 20 minutes, which YES is a long time you spit it out. Spit into the garbage because the oil will clog your drains otherwise. 😉 Then chug water. REALLY FAST! Kidding, it doesn’t matter how fast I just drink fast. I don’t care what people say 20 minutes is long to do something this boring- it’s 20 minutes and it’s not exactly comfortable. I definitely, 100% recommend trying to oil pull while you’re doing other things – like running around your house/getting ready for work/showering/being lazy. Not while too sleepy in the morning because of fear of swallowing.
+ Whitens teeth
+ Strengthens your gums/teeth/& jaw. It helps with sensitive teeth & even has reported to help with TMJ.
+ Prevents cavities & gingivitis & benefits overall oral health. I think this takes a lot of swishing though. 😉
+ Helps ease the symptoms of acne/ eczema/ psoriasis/ & other skin care issues. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS.
+ Helps the ease the symptoms of a hangover & a migraine. – HA this must be a joke.
+ Has been said to help people who have sleep issues.
+ Clears out your sinuses.
+ If you have halitosis, oil pulling has been said to be a big savior for many sufferers. People reported that their morning breath improved greatly.
+ Helps with general oral pain issues.
+ Could assist in hormonal imbalances.
Mostly what I see/feel immediately is softness – my teeth feel softer and smoother. My gums feel softer and smoother. My lips look extremely chapped, though. Need to use that coconut oil on them ASAP.
Before I went to Paris I thought it would be a good idea to go to a tanning salon so I wouldn’t look like I was translucent. POOR CHOICE, Ash. I think it was a mixture of me taking an antibiotic prescription the day before I tanned & the fact that I went on a run to the tanning place and sweaty… and just bad. Anyway, I got a heinous burn on my back.
Homeoplasmine & Biafine have saved my back in a few short days. Homeoplasmine is a oil or vaseline based and is great for minor cuts & burns. All of this stuff is prescription strength so it blows products like Neosporin out of the water. Biafine is a prescription strength cream – smells great and softens even the roughest of skin. Great on sunburns! And my back looks normal again. 😉
BioRecept Hydra’ Fluide
This moisturizer is meant for all skin types. It penetrates the skin quickly and doesn’t leave any thick residue which is a make or break for me! NO greasiness, yay! Skin is getting softer by the minute. I’m really only doing it for the #flawless #IWokeUpLikeThis Instagram selfie. duh! And a great price of €16,90.
BioRecept Gommage de Peau
This is a masque & exfoliation product combo that also works as a cleanser. You can use this a few times a week or even every day if you feel it’s necessary. The exfoliation does not contain any hard particles so it’s completely soft and will not irritate skin. Great for acne prone skin.
Lierac Anti-Blemish Mattifying Fluid
My absolute favorite moisturizer from my trip to Paris! The mattifying qualities in the moisturizer leave my skin feeling so super soft while still working super hard at battling any blemishes that I do have. Use after a cleanser day & night. I wish I would have purchased like 10 of these!
Klorane Makeup Remover Wipes
Was beyond excited to see these beautiful paraben-free, fragrance-free wipes in Paris! I use these regularly, from a boutique skincare place in Roslyn and spend over $20.00 on them. Talk about a huge bargain for me at ONLY €4! For me, anyways. I love the way they feel and they do a great job of removing any excess makeup after washing my face the 1st time. Great for the gym or at the end of night out.
SO MANY GREAT PRODUCTS FROM PARISIAN PHARMACIES <3
